“It is still the talent of the eye and the use of light that turns a photo into art.”

 - Photographer Kelly Loucks Wilson

Kelly Loucks Wilson acquired his first Canon FTb while in his early teens. He continued to shoot

black and white throughout the 1970s, and processed the film in his basement darkroom.

This early interest led to a life-long study of photography as art; and more than 30 years since,

it has become his passion.

When Kelly shoots individual portraits - senior photos, headshots, families - he aims to capture the personality

of his subject. There are no set poses; his clients pick the location, the wardrobe, and the final “takes.”

Each client is different; each photo is unique.

“With today’s camera equipment almost anyone can get a lucky shot . . . for me the signature of a professional photographer

is not only an eye for composition, but the ability to work with the subject, to capture the natural smile, attitude and personality.

Which is exactly what Kelly did for Andy’s Senior Pictures.  We couldn’t be more pleased!  Great photographer, great shoot,

great time, great results!” – T.Spaulding

Kelly’s fine art and commercial photography has appeared in galleries and businesses throughout West Michigan.

It hangs in Martha’s Vineyard in Grand Rapids, and is prominently featured in marketing materials for Comerica Bank,

including on the cover of “West Michigan Visions.” Most recently, Kelly’s work was exhibited in the 23rd Annual West Michigan

Regional Competition presented by the Lowell Area Arts Council and in the Byrneboehm Gallery’s inaugural

Byrneboehm Awards - 2008 West Michigan Juried Photographic Exhibition. Additional highlights include, The Pet Project,

sponsored by Lowell Area Arts Council and Strong Voices in Art, Music, and Politics hosted by

the Progressive Women’s Alliance.
